Las Vegas, Nevada – March 08: (Rl) Magomed Ankalaev of Russia punches Brazil’s Alex Pereira in … [+]
UFC has a new lightweight lightweight champion, and this happened at a very inaccurate main event. Magomed Ankalaev did what he had to do to destroy Alex Pereira by unanimous decision (49-46, 48-47 × 2).
Pereira was not robbed. Ankalaev was able to neutralize Pereira’s work, and he used his ability to keep Poatan against the cage to win the victory of the unanimous decision.
Pereira got the first round with steady foot strokes and octagon control. Ankalaev easily claimed the second frame as he raised the pressure and landed a large punch at the end of the round that Pereira waved.
I thought Pereira retired well in the third round and gained an uneven frame, but here the judges were a little different.
All three judges gave Ankalaev the third round.
Ankalaev went to a heavy wrestling approach, holding Pereira against the cage for most of the round. Ankalaev did not do much damage, but he definitely checked five minutes.
In the last round, Pereira did the best job, but a judge gave Ankalaev consequences.
The MMA world reacted to the title change, admitting that the result was not necessarily better for business or exciting, but the decision was not terrible. I scored the 48-47 war for Pereira, but I could not scream bloody murders on Ankalaev’s victory.
Here is some of the reactions to the result.
We will see what else is for Pereira and who Ankalaev defends the title against first.
UFC 313: Justin Gaetas gives in his return struggle
Justin Gaetas is an incredible human being. Gaesen directed his record against Rafael Physiev at 2-0 with a bold performance at the UFC 313 co-chair. After losing his first round, Gaesek jumped again with two major rounds to draw unanimous decision victory.
Gaeset landed this big cut to throw the physician in the second round, and this changed the whole war.
After the war, praise and appreciation for grasping was poured on social media.
Victory puts Gaesen again on the right track after the destructive loss of KO to Max Holoway at UFC 300. It is possible that Gaesen can challenge for the light title in his next war.
Physiev deserves respect for his performance. He took the fight with the 12 -day announcement and performed admirable. He seemed to be finishing the late gas, and that could have been because he did not have a full camp.
In any case, he should not lose the ground in the next UFC ranking. The two rightly provided the night performance bonus.
